
Lochie Dormer

Lochie Dormer is a Brisbane based percussionist and drummer who completed his Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2020.
In his time at QCGU Lochie has been fortunate enough to study under Tom O’Kelly, François Combemorel, Michael Askill and Vanessa Tomlinson. He also recently performed Emmanuel Sejourne’s Marimba Concerto as a soloist with the QCGU Symphony Orchestra.
Lochie has worked with ensembles such as the Queensland Pops
Orchestra, Queensland Camerata, Ensemble Q, Southern Cross Soloists, Queensland Choir and the Australian War Memorial Orchestra and participated in the Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp. He also regularly plays drum kit in a cover duo with his brother Mitchell, called Ken Jennings.
Lochie has received awards such as the Jim Massie Memorial Prize, the Brisbane Club Audience Choice Award, as well as being a finalist in the 4MBS Queensland Young Virtuoso Competition. Lochie also received first place in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Snare Drum Competition in 2018. After winning this prize, Lochie undertook a year long mentorship with the MSO in 2019. The future looks bright for Lochie as he looks towards graduating from the Conservatorium and travelling overseas to further his education.
