Job Availability: Kaboom Performer in Melbourne

We have been running our School Shows and Workshops programs since 2015 and we pride ourselves on delivering one of the best touring shows in Australia. We are passionate about sharing the joy of music with students of all ages and abilities around the country.

We are seeking expressions of interest from talented and enthusiastic percussionists in Melbourne who are passionate about working with Primary and High School aged students to deliver our programs for metro and regional schools. As a member of our Kaboom team you will receive intensive training in the delivery of our programs and ongoing support. Performance/workshop bookings will be made throughout the year according to your availability. The position will suit freelance percussionists or instrumental teachers with flexible work schedules.

 

Job Title: Kaboom Percussion Schools Shows and Workshops Performer/Presenter

Job Type: Casual – per show/workshop rate (details in the application PDF)

Location: Melbourne, short tours to Sydney, Adelaide, and Regional Victoria

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform School Shows (including transit, set-up/pack-down)

  • Deliver School Workshops (including transit, set-up/pack-down)

  • Maintain an excellent standard of performance

  • Abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures

  • Other tasks as directed

​

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion (or completing one in 2023)

  • Current Driver’s Licence and Working With Children Check

  • Previous experience in school shows and workshops is desirable but not essential

​

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Passion for music and education

  • Excellent stage presence and public speaking

  • Excellent percussion performance

  • Good level of physical fitness

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication 

  • Organised and reliable

  • Understanding of technical requirements (microphones, PA system etc.)

  • Flexibility to work a variety of days and times throughout the school year (bookings will be made according to your availability)

 

Job Performance Goals

  • Maintain a high level of musicianship and performance excellence

  • Interact with school staff and students and other employees professionally at all times

  • Attend shows and workshops in a timely manner

  • Have fun sharing the joy of music!
